Why I Never Start With Paint
Most people assume every mural or decorative finish begins with paint. In reality, the process starts long before the first brushstroke—with listening, observation, and understanding how a space should feel.
WHY HIRE ME

The First Meeting Isn't About Color
When I meet with a client for the first time, paint is rarely the first thing we discuss.
Instead, I want to understand how they use the room, what they love about their home, and what feels unfinished or disconnected. Those conversations often reveal far more than a paint chip ever could.
That's why I often say that every project begins with listening, not painting.
Every Room Gives You Clues
A home has a way of telling its own story.
The architecture, natural light, furnishings, and even the pieces a homeowner has collected over the years all offer clues about what belongs there.
I've talked before about how clients don't come with a clear idea—they come with pieces . My role is to recognize those pieces and assemble them into something that feels complete.
Paint Is the Final Conversation
By the time I open a can of paint, many of the biggest decisions have already been made.
We've talked through the room, refined the concept, and considered how the artwork or finish will relate to everything else in the space.
Whether I'm creating a hand-painted mural or applying a decorative wall finish the paint simply brings the plan to life.
Good Design Begins With Understanding
The finished wall is what everyone notices.
But the thinking behind it is what gives it lasting impact.
I've found that the most successful projects aren't created by rushing toward color or decoration. They're created by understanding the room first and allowing every decision to support that vision.
That's why I never start with paint.
