I’m Marcine, the artist behind Artworks by Marcine, and as an NJ mural artist, I love turning everyday spaces into something special. One of my favorite recent projects was helping a client in a New England vacation home finish her hallway. She had beautiful marble tiles that didn’t quite reach the wall, and she asked if I could paint some wooden half-rounds to match them. Color matching is my thing, so I was excited to jump in and make it work!

The Idea: Completing the Hallway’s Look

When I saw those marble tiles—textural and variegated—I knew this was going to be a fun challenge. The client, super friendly and in the middle of a home renovation, gave me two wooden half-rounds and a tile sample, hoping I could make them blend in. I suggested adding a bit of texture to the paint so the wood would look more like the real tile, not just a painted cover. She loved the idea, and I was ready to get to work.

The Process: Painting with Care

I took that marble tile sample and studied its colors and patterns closely. As an NJ mural artist, I approach every project like it’s a piece of wall art, and this was no different. I mixed paints to match the tile’s creamy tones and subtle veins, then added texture to give the wood that natural, stone-like feel. By the time I was done, those half-rounds looked like they belonged with the marble tiles. It was all about getting the details right to make the hallway feel complete.

The Payoff: A Happy Client

A few weeks after I sent the painted pieces, I got an email from the client that put a big smile on my face: “Marcine, they look amazing in person! You can’t tell the difference!” She included photos, and sure enough, the half-rounds blended perfectly with the marble tiles. That’s the kind of moment that makes my work at Artworks by Marcine so rewarding—knowing I helped make a space feel just right.

Why I Love This Kind of Work

This home renovation project was more than just painting some wood; it was about bringing a vision to life. As an NJ mural artist, I’m all about creating wall art that makes a home feel personal, whether it’s a mural or a clever fix like this marble tile match. Helping this New England hallway come together was a reminder of why I love what I do—making spaces better, one brushstroke at a time.
